I went to this school from 1995-2000 and I have to say that this is the best lower school anyone could ever go to. I had a lot of memories at this school. I remember Mr Pope and all the other teachers that were there when I was there. I have finished my GCSE's at Mark Rutherford Upper and getting my results tomorrow. Wish me luck, hehe.

comic relief is supposed to be fun to raise money for charity.how come the pupils had to wear school uniform when every other school had a muffy day where they could wear red, wacky hair or back to front clothes.two years ago when you last did it the children had a brilllant day where they did the above mentioned things which was fun.this year there was no effort put in it.me personal feel you let the children down as they have been looking forward to this day.

Thank you for your message, our Red Nose Day celebrations were a great success and we raised nearly £200.00 for comic relief. The winners of the name the teddies were Jodie Doyle and Mrs Cartwright.

It has almost been 20 years since I left this school - and I have some very fond memories of my time there. I just wanted to say thank you to all the teachers at the time who helped me on my way to achieving a great educational start in life.

The school has certainly changed over the years - but I hope the the strong school values and greatness of the staff remain for years to come!

Wow! Mrs Llewellyn this is a fantastic web site! It is so good to see what is going on in School. I love the picture of the office staff. That really made me chuckle. Great to see pupils past and present leaving comments too. I will pop in more often to find out what is happening in school and make sure we know in the Office!! I think our School should be very proud of our website. I now have so much to write about for my course I do not know where to start!! Thanks again Mrs Llewellyn.

Hello to everyone that remembers me. I attended putnoe Lower School between 1997-2001. It's weird to read all the comments from the people that I went to school with. Looking at this site brings back fond memories of when I was at Putnoe and it's amazing to see how much the school has changed. If anyone who remembers me would like to email me, it would be very nice to hear from you.

Just scanning through the web and thought i'd search for my 1st school. I attended Putnoe Lower from 1969-1973/4.

I have skectchy memories - milk everyday, the 10/15 yard outdoor pools, the spelling tests, a project i did on flamingos's, the cloakrooms, school dinners, playing football, fights in the school playground, seeing the moon landing, stabbing a classmate called Steven Pevensey with my pen,and the 3-legged race at sports days.

i now live in Melbourne Australia.

Thanks for letting me remember (or try)

Cheers

I came to Putnoe Lower in 1975! It was still called Amy Johnson then! The head teacher was Mrs Barley. I am now a Deputy Headteacher myself of a large first school in Dorset. My grandad was the caretaker at Putnoe Lower in the early 80's. His name was Mr Clohisey. I have enjoyed the virtual tour. The school has changed a bit! I have very happy memories of my time at Putnoe Lower. I am now 35 and still have a good friend I met on my first day.

Was just feeling nostalgic and thought I would do a search for the school- this is a lovely website!
I was at the school from 1989-1993, Im now in my final year of university but I still remember Putnoe Lower really, really fondly- it was fantastic.
Im glad to see Mrs. Colqhoun is still there (sorry if the spelling's wrong!) - I had a lovely time in her class.
Enjoyed looking around the website, thank you for the happy memories! :)

Just enjoyed browsing around your excellent website. I notice that you have to scroll backwards and forwards on the guestbook. We used to have a similar problem on our website. If you delete some of the exclamation marks on Daniel Herbert's message I think it will solve the problem.

Best Wishes

i am currently doing health and social care and reviewing this school in to part of my coursework as we have to do a section called health, social and early years.

Kia Ora ( hello ) from Wellington New Zealand!

I have just thought to search the web for any site for this wonderful school which I attended before emmigrating to NZ in 1974 aged 10 1/2. I was lucky enough to complete my schooling at Putnoe that year and can still picture the surroundings vividly and remember the school and everyone with great affection. I can remember nearly all my classmates full names too.

Putnoe (Junior) Lower School's greatness, I believe, is because it embraces everybody and encourages unique talents to flourish. It is my wish to revisit my roots in the next 5 years and say hello to you all and see how much further my favourite school has developed. I'm sure I could still find my way around the local area with just a matchstick and a compass! ( I lived at Arundel Drive ). Thanks so much for the local map and the school photos. Such a great website people, and for me on the other side of the world it allows me to reconnect with this area of the UK refreshing some memories and updating others.

We have big preparations here in Wellington this week for the UK Lions Vs All Blacks rugby and we have the most UK visitors and cruise ship ever in port. So Kia Kaha! ( Be strong! ) and enjoy the game.

Arohanui ( Go with love )

Vernon Riley

We always enjoy hearing from past pupils Vernon. Do come and visit us when you make it to the UK.

It was so refreshing to see a well presented web site with all the key areas being
highlighted on the left. Each section was clearly set out and easily allowed the person reading to home in on the subject. Well Done to your webmaster.
I was very interested in the way that the school has presented itself to the surrounding area with local clubs that hire the premises. From what I have read so far your attention to giving the children every opportunity to express themselves from the projects shows how dedicated all the staff are to the childrens wellbeing and development.
KEEP UP the GOOD work. Well done good luck with ofsted

You have made my day! I'm glad Putnoe's finally on the web.
I started Putnoe back in September 1986 in Mrs.George's class and left in 1990, Mrs.Coulqhoun was my last teacher (and a good one!)
I can honestly say that they were the best days of my life.
I see Mrs.Day is Chair of Goveners, and Mrs.Coulqhoun is still there.....great teachers when i was there (remember me??)
Well Putnoe was the best school then and I bet it still is.

Its been nearly 20 years since I left Putnoe and I still have lots of very happy memories, certain bits on the site have brought back a few THANKSXXXX

This is my first visit to Putnoe's web site and what a delightful surprise! There is so much to see and so many interesting things to discover that I shall have to find time to visit the site again. I send my love to everyone who remembers me. Obviously there will be no children left at the school who went through Putnoe when I was its headteacher but I notice that many staff (infact all the senior management team) and also some support staff and governors are still the same. It was so lovely to see so many good things continuing at the school and a tremendous amount of new initiatives that made me feel exhausted just reading about them! Putnoe always was a lovely, lovely school filled with friendly and hardworking people whom I miss every day. Your website shows that it remains the same and that it is improving every year. Well done everyone.

For the record I was headteacher at Putnoe from 1993 to 1999. I am now semi retired but still work on a part time basis for Suffolk LEA. I look much the same as I did when I left Putnoe. A few more wrinkles but no grey hairs (my hairdresser sees to that).

I have just discovered your website!!!! I started my teaching career at Putnoe C.J. School in 1959 as Miss Tessa Lamb, under the headmastership of Mr Fred Barley, leaving in May 1964 to become an inaugural teacher at Hazeldene. I have been living in Australia now for 27 years. I took my son on a tour of the school in the mid 1980's when little had changed. It was interesting to take a tour of your site and to notice the many changes, but also to reflect on the parts of the school still familiar to me from my time there eg. the dining hall, and the walled garden. Have you still got the swimming pool? I do not remember the 2 pupils who were at school in the early 60's whose messages I read on this website, probably because I only taught the older children and these two were possibly still in the Infants(Ive been teaching for 40 years and try as i might I cant remember everybody!!). If there is anybody who remembers me it would be interesting to hear from them.

I was at Putnoe from 1961 until 1968, and I have very happy memories of my time there. I will always thank Mr Baldry for being such an influence on my life; he was a very strict teacher and not many people in the school liked him. But those of us who were in his class loved him and he pushed us through into good schools. Does anyone know where he is?

I won a scholarship to Bedford School, then went on to Manchester University, and now I work as an accountant in Kent.

We have only recently got our computer and the Putnoe Lower web site is one of the first things we wanted to look for. I attended Putnoe Infants and Putnoe Junior schools myself many moons ago, and my own children (Amy, Jordan, Leonie and Rachel) have followed on behind! Putnoe Lower is a fantastic school and this web site is another (most impressive) feather in it's cap!

Having spent a couple of interesting hours registering to seek old school friends, I was reminded of my happy early years at what used to be known as Putnoe County Junior School. I am now 47 years of age and I left Putnoe to go to Newnham School in Bedford. I am now a company Director living in Nottingham and I am greatful to your school for my early educational years. It was a pleasure to see your Web site. I still keep in contact with old friends in Bedford and visit whenever my busy work schedual permits.
Thanks again Kind regards Mike Dibley

I'm a (very) old boy of the school - Putnoe County Infants and Juniors, as it was then (1959-1965). Lots of happy memories and recent contact with old schoolmates through Friends Reunited. It's good to see the school flourishing and I'm really impressed with the website. Not much technology in my day - we built most of it secretly during lessons and then had it confiscated! Still, it gave a me a good start in life!

(Good to hear from you Chris.)
