School Council Activities in 2004/2005

In Autumn 2004, the new Council decided to continue the recycling project.  Caitlin, Andrew, Joey and Jake made a presentation at a recycling conference in Bedford.  They came second in the competition and won £200 for the school.

The council have been very busy this year making sure all classes have a good recycling scheme in their classroom.  They empty the boxes and fill the orange sacks.  They weigh the bags and the best class wins the recycling monkey!

We also recycle our fruit in our compost bin on our allotment.

In January 2005, the School Council decided to raise money in response to the Tsunami Disaster.  They organised a Toy Sale for 21 January.

" On  21 January we had a bring and buy sale.  People brought in their own toys from Christmas that they didn't want any more.  The people from the School Council were selling these toys to people that did want them.  After we were done, we counted upthe money and we raised £200, but we are still going to be doing it until July."

Throughout the summer term the School Council has been looking at ways to save energy in the school and will be developing the project next year.  We also ran two stalls at the summer fayre where we sold iced biscuits and invited other children to play the game - 'the lolypop tree'.
